Prayer Plant

Maranta leuconeura

Maranta Leuconeura, commonly known as the Prayer Plant, is a striking tropical foliage houseplant native to the Brazilian rainforest. It gets its name from its fascinating habit of folding its leaves together at night, resembling hands closed in prayer. It displays intricate, colorful red herringbone veins.

Native Origin & Climate

Humid forest floors of the Brazilian rainforest. Loves warm, damp, and shaded indoor environments throughout Australia.

Expert Pruning Tip

Trim leggy stems in spring using sharp, clean shears just below a node. This stimulates new bushier growth and creates cuttings.
