Wonga Wonga Vine
Pandorea pandorana
Pandorea pandorana, commonly known as the Wonga Wonga Vine, is a vigorous, woody Australian native climbing vine. It is highly famous for its dense clusters of small, trumpet-shaped flowers in shades of cream, white, and pale pink, with throats painted in rich purple or brown spots. Flowering heavily from late winter to spring, it has glossy, pinnate green leaves and climbs using twining stems, making it ideal for covering fences and pergolas.
Native Origin & Climate
Rainforests, wet forests, and dry gullies throughout eastern and northern Australia.
Expert Pruning Tip
Prune heavily immediately after spring flowering to control its vigorous growth, promote branching, and keep the foliage dense.

Localized Australian Care Taxonomy
Beginner Friendly. Easy to grow, fast-growing, and highly resilient in typical Australian landscapes.
Full sun to part shade. Thrives and flowers most heavily in full sun, but handles dappled afternoon shade well.
Moderate. Water regularly while establishing. Once mature and established, it is remarkably drought-tolerant, requiring minimal water.
Moist, organic-rich, well-draining garden soil. A good organic mulch helps keep the roots cool and retain moisture.
Adaptable. Handles coastal conditions, wind, heat, and is cold-tolerant down to -3°C once mature, though young plants need frost protection.
Propagation is easily done by taking semi-hardwood cuttings or layering stems in summer.
Dense, cascading, and floriferous. Twining woody stems with glossy green leaves and heavy sprays of small trumpets create a classic native garden look.
Ideal for training over garden pergolas, arches, climbing fences, or covering brick walls in sunny positions.
Versatile Sheltered
Safe:Non-toxic to humans and pets, making it a very safe and attractive option for backyard walls and arches.
