Chinese Money Plant
Pilea peperomioides
Pilea peperomioides, widely known as the Chinese Money Plant, UFO Plant, or Pancake Plant, is a popular houseplant featuring unique, circular, bright green leaves on long arched petioles. Native to Yunnan Province in China, it has a charming, mid-century modern aesthetic. It grows rapidly and produces numerous miniature baby plants (offsets) around its central stem, which has earned it the name "Friendship Plant" as they are easily shared.
Native Origin & Climate
Shady, moist rocky mountainsides and forests of Yunnan Province, Southern China.
Expert Pruning Tip
Trim old yellowing leaves at the bottom of the stem to maintain a clean trunk. Detach the small pups with a sharp knife to keep the parent plant balanced.

Localized Australian Care Taxonomy
Beginner Friendly. Simple to grow indoors and highly rewarding with its fast growth and propagation.
Bright indirect light. Rotate the plant weekly to prevent it from leaning towards the light and to ensure symmetrical leaf growth. Avoid direct, scorching sunlight.
Moderate. Allow the potting soil to dry out almost completely between waterings. The leaves will begin to droop slightly when it is thirsty, which is a helpful reminder.
Rich, well-draining potting soil with perlite. Standard premium houseplant potting mix works perfectly.
Prefers average indoor climates (15-26°C) and moderate humidity. Can tolerate dry indoor air but does best with some ambient moisture.
Highly prolific. Small offsets grow from the roots or stem and can be clipped and rooted in water or soil.
Quirky, clean, and geometric. Floating, saucer-like circular leaves give it a playful, modern, architectural look.
Ideal for tabletops, desks, shelves, or windowsills in bright, filtered light areas.
Indoor
Safe:Non-toxic to pets and humans. Completely safe for households with curious cats, dogs, or kids.
